Who am I?
My Name is Nick Caskanette, and I am working as an Intern with McConville Omni Insurance Brokers through my co-op term of the Business - Insurance program at Fanshawe College.
I truly did not know what to expect when I was hired as a summer intern with McConville Omni Insurance Brokers. This was my first full time job, ever! Upon arriving my first day I didn’t know what was in store for me. Would I simply be a desk jockey, photocopying and shredding paper all day? Would the employees be more concerned about themselves, rather than the company?
These concerns swirled through my head as I arrived for my first day. It took less than a day for my concerns to be laid to rest! McConville Omni’s great staff, culture, and management allow you to learn and grow as fast as you are capable, creating a truly enriching experience!
A Culture of Caring
The first thing I noticed upon arrival is the culture of caring that’s so important here. Whether you’re a customer or a staff member, you are important and given the tools and information required to succeed. This culture is great for fostering employee growth, with more senior employees always happy to provide insight or knowledge.
McConville Omni values their employees, and this is clear from the many team building activities provided by management and the great social committee. Creating and fostering a positive and happy work environment is major commitment.

The second thing I noticed over the coming days and weeks was McConville Omni’s willingness to have their employees grow and learn. As long as you are willing and rise to the occasion, the management team is more than willing to provide the opportunities, time and knowledge. Whether you want to do a webinar, attend an industry event or take a course, McConville Omni is committed to your development! Encouraging the employees to constantly be learning, not only benefits us, but our clients, too!
I have learned so much since I arrived here four months ago - to the point where going back to classes in September will feel quite mundane, comparatively.

As an employee, it’s very refreshing to be a part of a company that isn’t resistive to change, but instead is willing to change in order to better service their customers.
What's Next For Me?
Overall, McConville Omni has allowed me to grow and change significantly. It has been an invaluable learning experience for me! From knowledge, to new friends, I found everything I was looking for and more in a summer internship!
From the companies’ big picture strategy and management, all the way ‘down’ to the new intern, McConville Omni is a family for both our customers and coworkers. This, coupled with the companies willingness to try new things and grow, has shown me how lucky I am to have been able to land an internship with such a great company! My internship has given me a foot in the door to start my career in the insurance industry!
